Pokapū Mahere Tūtahi o Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Unitary Plan (AUP) Hub

A young woman cycles down a cycle path, and a bus drives on a street in front of Auckland's urban form, dotted with maunga and trees. The Waitemata and Rangitoto shine in the distance as seagulls glide overhead.

The Auckland Unitary Plan (AUP) is the ‘rulebook’ that shapes the way Auckland grows. It guides the use of Auckland’s natural and physical resources, including land development, by determining what can be built and where, and what activities may be undertaken.

Although this section provides all the technical information you need to meet the requirements in the Unitary Plan, this is not the main AUP website. Here you’ll find the AUP text and maps, guidance on how to understand and apply the rules, the Unitary Plan Practice and Guidance notes, and a list of relevant conditions for your resource consent.
