Building performance Print

Optimum building performance is important not only for the comfort and amenity of the occupants but also to reduce costs over the development’s lifetime.

Carrying out ‘life cycle cost’ assessment, which involves assessing the initial cost of the material against ongoing maintenance costs, costs of replacement and any benefits (such as insulation) is an important exercise when choosing materials. This will often reveal that the selection of higher quality, that maybe above the New Zealand Building Code minimums, can save money over the life of the building.
